Bed Bugs! Not just scary but also a real problem for people travelling!⁣

Make sure to not put your luggage down on the bed before you check. Use the luggage rack for your suitcase available in most hotel rooms.⁣

The first place you should check for bed bugs is the most obvious: your hotel bed. Look along the mattress seams and zippers, under the mattress, and at each joint of the bed frame. We don't mean just lifting up one corner to look—that won't cut it.⁣

You are looking for any evidence of bed bugs which may include eggs, blood drops or dark spotting or even the bugs themselves.

Next check behind headboards and anything close to the bed, including curtains and nightstand drawers.

If you find any evidence don't be afraid to call the front desk and ask for a different room. Also ask for clean sheets if you are at all concerned. ⁣

An ounce of prevention can make your stay a lot happier. ⁣

What does a bed bug job look like?⁣ ⁣ It is a lot of painstaking work with vacuuming and steaming to get all of the possible bugs and eggs. Each crack and crevice must be treated.⁣ ⁣ After steaming and vacuuming not just the bed, but baseboards and surrounding areas, mattresses are placed into sealed mattress protectors to prevent any further infestation.⁣ ⁣ All items in the house must be washed in regular laundry detergent and put into seal-able containers to prevent further infestation. ⁣ ⁣ It is a lot of prep work but also a lot of service work with heavy lifting and precise attention to detail. ⁣ ⁣
